| Post subject: | Hand brake cable |
After finding that one of my hand brake cables was seized I decided to to try and free it which I did to an extent but a few strands are broke at the drum end and could cause problems later so I did a quick search and came across a new pair of Austin Maxi cables for £4 plus postage. They look pretty much the same, are the same length of my GTM ones and look to only need a way of fixing the outer to the bracket on the hub which won't be very difficult to do. I will post how it goes when they arrive and I get chance to play. If it works it could save people a bob or two. |

Cables came today and with a small bracket to hold the outer to the hub they work better than the GTM ones. The only other mod was to make the holes in the handbrake lever bottom plate slightly larger which I drilled using a 10mm step cutter and took about 3 seconds. The outer then fits to the plate with a nut and threaded so it can't move. I will put a few pictures on later when I get chance. |
