Post Coilover shocks - anyone run them?
Hi all,

just wondering if any of you run coil springs or coilovers on your Rossa?

Quite like the idea of coilovers but I expect the spring may get a bit to close to the body, especially at the rear. Appreciate any thoughts.

Cheers

Jamie

i run metal springs INSTEAD of rubber cones.
its great
DO IT.
and don't muck about with stiff shocks - get the loosest you can.
my gtm runs MUCH better.

Thanks for the reply.

Could I ask what springs you are running and why you like them (better ride, handling etc ?), be interesting to hear the thoughts of someone who has actually got rid of the cones.

Shocks wise, I am going with Gas adjustarides from minispares which I believe are a good choice - not over hard.

I was watching Wheeler Dealers on Quest the other night and they were doing a Moke. They swapped the rubber cones for tapered coil springs with hi-lo's and reported much better ride and handling. Their logic was that the Moke is much lighter than a mini so the rubber cones are too hard. Might be worth watching that episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlGjle-yXFo
They had some springs made by a specialist but reckoned they were no dearer than buying some. If they say who the specialist was (or if there is a sign in the background) they will probably still have tooling they made and would know the rates they used.

I fitted KYB gas-a-just shockers from MiniSpares because my standard length ones were bottoming out even though my car is at standard ride height and I'm very pleased with them, their longer operating range is ideal.
I like the idea of fitting springs in place of the cones so I'll be watching this thread with interest.

I have used various makes of coil springs on minis and have found the ones from P and L minis up the road from me to be a good price but after trying them on the rossa I prefer the rubber cones.
