Hello,

I purchased a Rossa MkII last week from a chap in the North East. It's been a fun week of ironing out little problems and getting the thing running, but it's not a bad little driver now, the brakes could be better though.

I'm afraid I will be pestering you lot for advice on most things as I have very little information on the car and am learning as I go. The only blessing is my previous fun cars have been all A Series engines (Morris Ital, Marina, MG Midget, Austin A35) so I'm ok with the engine stuff.

I'm looking forward to developing this car and enjoying it for years to come.

Thanks guys.

Do any of you know where I can get a build manual or anything to help me get my head around how the car is built and with what parts? I have the text and a few pics of the brochure from a website. Also, is there anyone who sells specific parts for Rossas?

You need Alan Britton at Rossabitz on 01733844839 who also has build manuals. If you do a search on here for Rossabitz you should also find his address. Alan is usually around here somewhere but he's been very quiet for a while. I think the he also trades as Specialist Engineering.

Thanks guys, it doesn't look so nice since I've pulled the soggy carpets out and investigated the wiring! I think proper looms have been used, but the there is some ad hoc wires floating about that I need to find out what they do. Whoever did this only had red wire as ALL of it is in red, even the earths. The reason I am investigating it is the battery light flickers when it's running, the voltage is 14.3v at the battery and 12.6v with the engine off, so I think the alternator is probably OK, but the wires to the dash look like they could be the culprits...

I'll keep going.

Good luck with that :) I absolutely HATE those damned Scotchloks :x My ignition light used to flicker too but it was fine after I fitted a new alternator and now it just needs a minute or two before it goes out :roll: Many moons ago I had a car whose ignition light was on permanently and that was apparently due to a faulty diode but it still charged the battery.

I fixed it!

Here's how: Spend hours investigating every scotch block, chock block and dodgy splice. Remove if not essential and make a proper join if needed. This process familiarised me with the loom enough to spot something that looked like a voltage stabiliser joined inline to the wiring, the metro gti clocks already had one, so I removed the additional stabiliser and bingo, sorted.

In the process I decided the dashboard has suffered some really bad workmanship and nothing is held in well enough to survive track days or regularity events. I'm split on whether to remove it and mount a motorcycle type clock set to the frame work (ugly I know) or try and rebuild the dashboard with fiberglass mat, then mount some better clocks and switches properly? It will be ok for now, but some people should be banned from building kit cars, this thing has been butchered!
