Is the Engine Steady Bar found on the lh side looking into the engine bay a GTM part or Mini part? It is an s shaped bar connecting the main tub to a bracket fastened onto the block besides the thermostat housing Mine is in two bits . But now I know where one rattle comes from |

Sounds like a GTM part Phil, Mini's only had a steady at the top on the clutch end. Picture would help to confirm it though Alan.. |

I think the engine steadies are from an Allegro. Possibly re-bent into the S shape https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Austin-alleg ... 3658031445 |

Owing to the difficulty of obtaining Allegro parts I designed a replacement steady bar for the Rossa some time ago. Although it has been fitted to the demo engine I have taken to the shows, it has not been tested as our Rossa has been sorned for some time. The Metro thermostat housing is replaced with one with a side lug. The GTM bracket on the bulkhead is replaced with a new one. M12 studding inside tubing and Mini tiebar rubbers with washers complete the set up. If anyone would like to test the set up, I can send them the parts Cheers Alan |
