After breaking two trolleys trying to get the engine and gearbox from my back garden to the garage, finally success. So in the next week I should be putting it in the frame and looking to see how it can be mounted.

Engine and gear box fits, kind of! A little massage with the angle grinder and some reattachment with the welder should fix any interference, I’m going to make the lower section removable to aid in getting the engine (which at this point is just for measuring up as I need to change the gearbox for a later one with cable change, the engine also needs some fettling to allow it to have boost without becoming a grenade!) in and out for any future problems.

The intention is to make this into something a fair bit more capable than the run of the mill kit car, there’s no disrespect intended there, I just want to build an English supercar to show what can be done on a reasonable budget if your willing to step out of your comfort zone and push just a little further.

There is a slight fly in the ointment though, dipstick and oil filler may only be accessible from behind the drivers seat.

The blue one is being sold by the same ‘gent’ who I got mine from, be aware of a few things, he has no idea what it is or what it’s made to be, neither him nor his dad built it despite what he will tell you. Five minuets talking to him will convince you of his technical abilities.

Having said that, the glass is lotus elan m100, pilkington sells it for about £700 plus vat and delivery, I’ve found another place to get it cheaper, pm me for details or any help you need with it.
