Can anyone help with a rough base setup for the Libra? I have new protechs with their standard 250 front 300 rear springs, car has ARBs Things like damper settings (no. clicks) and ride height as I remember my old one was VERY sensitive to ride height, front went very light on me once. Any pointers would be great. |

Think this has been covered a few times but - Don't know the clicks for protech but my GAZ are on 8 clicks front and 12 clicks rear (out of 20) and this works okay - this is how I left it after the last track session in August, a bit hard for the road but I'm used to it now. I was told that the number of clicks should be roughly in proportion to the relative weight front to back. Ride height should be circa 15mm higher at back - I've got 140mm front and 155 rear (measured under the sills) and this seems okay. I've got -1.5 degrees camber rear, 0.5 degrees rear toe in, zero camber front with .35 degrees toe in. Feels pretty good but wondering about going for a bit of neg camber at the front (if I can be bothered given the access!) |

I have no desire to track the car, so as a road car/touring weapon it should be there or there abouts? I'm pretty sure my old libra was sprung similarly and at least this one has ARBs. I'm assuming the K20 motor in yours is heavier than a B series too? |

The good news is the rear Spring are very, very easy to swap out afterwards if you think they're to soft. If I'm happy with my 600lb springs I just swapped over, I have some 450lb springs here going cheap as chips  Weight wise I wouldn't think their is much in it though but I don't have any spec here without googling it to death to prove different |

Colin you were right, I believe the rear is sagging too much and is making the front feel light. It felt a bit better when i stiffened the rear ARB a bit but nowhere near as confidence inspiring as my old car. Thinking of trying 375lb on the rear and playing with the ARB for now. No intention of tracking the car just want to get it feeling better for road. Will leave the 250s on front for now |

I messed about with quite a lot of springs and settled on 250 front 450 rear. Front arb full hard and with the GTM suspension rear arb 2 holes from soft. |

Hmm It's so long ago but I'm sure I was a fair bit stiffer than 300 on my old k series car and no doubt this has more weight at the back. Time to invest in some springs |

Got some dodgy handling going on it feels as though the rear corners are almost working against eachother. Had a bit of an odd see saw sensation going on from the rear end of the car, not hard cornering but fairly brisk. Any ideas? Front 130mm RH ARB middle 250LB springs 8 clicks out (max 13) Rear 150mm RH ARB position 6 out of 8 (8 being softest) 450LB springs 7 clicks out (max 13) Haven't a clue whether these damper settings are a good start point, can anyone with protechs advise?? |

I would start by sotftening the rear. Soft as the ARB on the rear will go and maybe 4 clicks from soft on the shock Drive a couple of miles and see how it feels Harden by 2 clicks and drive the same bit of road. Repeat until happy I seem to remember I ran 6-8 clicks from soft on the rear, Maybe 8 on the front. |

Can't comment on ARBs as I don't have any (yet - may be a future upgrade). I also can't comment on protech but the advice I was given by Dave Gallop of Track Developments was to set the dampers proportional to the relative weights front to back so if the car is 40:60 front to back then for every 2 clicks on the front you should have 3 clicks on the back, or 4-6, 6-9 etc. What is your geometry at the moment? Is there any wear in any of the ball joints? Is everything tight? There was another Spyder on the Llandow track day who had one of the rear steering locking tie things (not sure of the technical term) come loose (he has the later trailing arm bushes). He was getting some weird handling but just needed tightening up. |
