Out of curiosity now, I am going to strip down one of the old cylinders I have to see if there is a difference!

Hi all, Still plodding away on my GTM build when I get 5 minutes. Having recently spent the last few trips to the garage under the dash removing the pedal box and welding the cut-into-3-pieces-and-bolted-loosely-back-together clutch pedal into one piece, I've noticed now its all back in that both the clutch and brake pedals are hitting the bulkhead when fully depressed. I am concerned this is happening before the end of the master cylinder piston travel, and therefore won't give me full function of the clutch and brakes. It will be worse once sound deadening and carpets are replaced. Assuming the holes for master cylinders etc have been drilled in the correct place, is there anything else I should look out for as incorrect? Can anyone with a Rossa2 comment/help? Just a few thoughts: The brake pedal will only travel a couple of inches the stop as when the system is bled the brake pedal travel is , well should be minimal. When bleeding the master cylinder , the brake pedal would go all the way to the floor, once bled the pedal was rock hard about 2-3 inches of travel. Rossa 2 with mini engine?? |

Hello Nathan, I agree with bubbleless, once the systems are bled up there will be a lot less travel in both pedals. I can have a look on mine tomorrow for you and take a few photo's if you like? @bubblesless, just noticed you are nearby in Chorley! I am over in Rainford, have you got a Rossa? |

Thanks for the replies. I can't say I noticed the touching with the systems bled so it makes sense. I shall await the arrival of my banjo fittings and get on with it! Sorry for confusion - Rossa 2 as in the MK2 body work on the a-series 'chassis' - not a K3. |

With the clutch ,This is all classic mini not verto clutch don't forget the throw out adjustment (7/16 bolt under the clutch arm) and the free pay adjustment big nuts at the bottom of the clutch arm. see here for adjustment and possible wear in the arm and pins etc http://www.7ent.com/pages/article-easy-pre-verto-clutch-adjustment.html |

Are you using extended piston rods in the master cylinders? The GRP bulkhead is a lot thicker than the mini sheet metal. |

Alan, Now you have me worried. Are extended piston rods a thing? I hadn't given their length any thought but now you mention the thickness of the fiberglass i suppose it would differ to the mini bulkhead. Please clarify. I could pull out one of my newly installed master cylinders to compare to the old but I would prefer not too! Nathan. |

Hi I don't know if they were part of the Rossa kit but I have some in stock at a fiver each. I don't know how the length compares to standard. |

Alan, it seems you were on to something. I have compared a standard mini clutch master cylinder with the one that came of my GTM. It would appear that the plunger rod is in fact longer! I assume as you can get rebuild kits for the master cylinders, they are fairly easy to strip and swap?  It does mean I have to remove my lovely new cylinders though. Anyone else ever get that 'one step forwards, two steps back' feeling?
