Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
Am I stating the obvious or is it just a matter of raising the spring seat by turning it with a C spanner? That's how I adjusted my ride height anyway.
One thing to note is that the front should ideally be slightly lower than the back for stability/poise. I was advised to go with 140mm front and 155mm rear measured from the underside of the sill to the ground. When I got mine it was 155mm front and 145mm back and changing it made a big difference to how it felt, particularly straight line stability at speed.
140 front is a bit low for speed bumps/kerbs though so you might want to experiment. I've now moved my number plate from the bottom of the rad grille/splitter to a stick on one on the bonnet to save having to replace cracked number plates every couple of weeks!

Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
That's all you need to do and the nose down stance is imperative
When I had my first Libra I didn't know about it and I set it up neutral... nearly crashed it as a result. At about 110mph the front went very light and I got a serious weave on.
Not fun.

Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
That is about the speed I reach just before going over Avon Rise at Castle Combe - that is the last place on earth you'd want a weave, just as it goes light over the rise and when you need to throw the anchor out for Quarry Bend

Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
I think i need to look at my front heights again. Not for the problems you might think, its those damn speed bumps. My front end undercarriage is constantly being scraped and is doing my head in, even though i think it looks perfect it worth me lifting it up i feel

Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
It's a shame because the more the nose is down the more you can get away with lowering the rear and generally getting the look just right without big gaps under the arches. My old Libra was absolutely slammed to the floor and it looked great but did cause a few issues at times. I've thought about putting 17 inch wheels on the back to give it the nose down stance without having big arch gaps, but it's a lot of messing for little gain. I think the Elise had smaller front wheels for the same reason and I remember reading that it's a common mod on VX220s as they come with the same wheel size front and rear.
I'm sure I remember Alan Marcon saying he had 16 fronts and 17 rears on your car Rednig555? Alan was the previous owner who re styled it etc..not sure how many hands it's been through since then.

Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
I'm going to keep the 16" rims but put 225 45 16s on the back instead of the 205 45's on there now. I had a chat with a guy at Llandow in May who said he'd done the suspension development for Rover on the MGTF before he retired and they got it to work best with 195's on the front and 235's on the rear but that meant different rim widths so the bosses said no, so I think the best they could do was something like 185 front and 215 rear both on 6.5" rims. Mine came with 205's front and back so that's what I put on when I changed them but now I know I'll go up to 225s on the back next change (which will be soon as the rears have had quite a bit of track day abuse now) the fronts have got loads left but I may as well stick with 205 anyway. 225 45's will be 9mm bigger overall radius (18mm bigger diameter), 3% more rolling circumference so should stay within the current speedo over-read.
Just that simple change will put the rear 9mm higher (so I can actually drop the spring a bit) and fill up the arches a bit more and hopefully get better rear grip/balance.

Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
I'll check what's on mine
They're 16s all round but the rear wheels are definitely wider, but probably only half an inch. My rear tyres are a lower profile than the fronts though I think.

Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
Just checked 195/45/16 front and 215/40/16 rear. Will look at 225/45 or 215/45 when they're worn out

Re: LIBRA RIDE HEIGHT
Funnily enough a couple of weeks ago I ordered a pair of toyo t1r's in 215/45/16 in an attempt to get a bit more ride height and fill the arches better. Currently have the same tyre in 40 profile and these should be about 3.5% bigger (10mm gain in ride height).
I thought 3.5% should be ok on the speedo? Out of interest what's the procedure for recalibrating the speedo?
