Post Ball bearings for Spyler/Libra with Zcars suspension?
Hi,

My Spyder got the ZCars rear suspension, fitted in 2014 by Dudley at Talon. In spite of moderate use, I need to change the left rear ball bearing. :(

I have checked posts at gtmdriver.com and teamgtm.com, and it seems that the first version of the kit use Mondeo ball bearings, while the revised kit from 2015-> uses standard Metro/MGF/Lotus ball bearings.

Does anybody have a part number for the ball bearing I need?

Best regards
Terje A.

RFM000050 is the one used by MGF/Rover Metro.

I'd expect the Mondeo bearing would be a standard size across the range/age so no need to get too specific.

I recently had a bearing go on the rear of my normally equipped car. Obviously that is the MGF/Metro one.

Just to note, all the manuals suggest you need a press to get them out/in but I used one of the sets available from ebay that use a big bolt and various spacers and receiving tubes and found it worked a treat.

Yours will be Mondeo Mk1/2

I think the problem is that the drive flange is sleeved to fit the larger bearing and leaves a tiny amount of metal to seat against the inner bearing race. I noticed with mine that one side didn't sit quite right and the bearing lasted about 1000 miles. A new one fitted a little better and was ok there on.

One owner with the original Z Cars kit had the drive flange re-machined to leave a better/bigger mounting face to the bearing.

Mine didn't need any sort of press to remove or refit.

The MFG / Rover Metro did not fit. :-(

As Roger pointed out, the correct fit was a Mondeo Mk1 (front) ball bearing. Back on the road, but on my way to winter storage. 0 C and icy this morning...
