Post Fiberglassing bonnet vent
Hi guys,

I'm in the middle of adding a bonnet scoop/vent to my coupe.
I've got the hole cut out and and the scoop screwed in place but my plan is to blend it in and have no visible fixings. Can anyone recommend a suitable filler or adhesive for securing the scoop to the bonnet, I don't want it to flex and crack over time.

My plan was to sand down the bonnet to get the lip of the scoop sitting flush
stick it down and secure using screws
wait for it to go off
remove screws
add a layer of fiberglass over the join and screw holes on both sides
fill and sand

This is going to be my first attempt at fiberglassing so if anyone could advise what size matting and resin to use and any tips, that would be great!

Thank you
James

I use EC 1000 2 pack acrylic structural adhesive from East Coast Fibreglass to bond GRP to itself or practically anything else.

How far do they go? As they're only available in 25mm or 50mm. The vent is approximately 3m in circumference and it's not cheap stuff!!

In that case try their Crystic 90-78pa.

It's about £10 per kilo.
