Hi I am a new member to the GTMOC forum, I was a GTMOC member some years ago as I am STILL building my Libra V6 which I purchased back in 2002, I believe it was the first black car after Greg Starks car. Work on the car haulted due to a number of factors which included building a new garage after aquiring some land behind my house, helping my father with his Hawk Ace, work commitments :( and the pitter patter of tiny feet. I have just got back into the build in anger and I am getting my head round the wiring - there was issues with GTM wiring harnesses at the time I left off the project - anybody out there with any info? Also has anybody got any documentation regarding seatbelts or anything else required for the IVA. Would be good if anyone could share IVA experiences i.e. what was the good the bad the ugly of the test?

Thanks

Just got the brain in gear and my mate has said i'm a div, PM means 'post mail'? What colour is your V6? is it finished? What mods have you made? I have made a few tweaks to get away from the norm, the car is on 17" image wheels with a 2" wider track front and rear, the motor is fitted with a CDA carbon air box with a E-ram supercharger, just needs the ECU aligning and the wiring finishing as well as the interior to finish and quite a bit of other finishing to complete.

Hi Librakv6,
Good luck with the IVA, I took mine in and passed without any real problems last year.
I used the seatbelts from the Metro donor and had no problems but the tester did ask how they were installed, So i explained about the spreader plates and described to him how the upper mounts were bonded in to the monocoque at the factory and offered to show him.
he was very happy with this and had similar questions through out the test. I think he was mainly checking to see my attitude and knowledge, IE i was sensible and had a good understanding of what was what, so probably hadnt bodged anything together.
The only thing i did get cought out on was some of the return edges on the bonnet being slightly too sharp. i ended up scrounging a bit of sand paper and half an hour later he had another look and said it was fine.

BTW i took mine to Leighton Buzzard for my test and they were all very frendly and helpfull.
I actually ended up having a fun day out! Especially as i got to drive there and back around 60 miles in all

Cheers
Chris

Thanks for the info Chris, i was under the impression that there was some sort of certificate of conformity that GTM had following a test they had carried out that had to be presented at the IVA, seems not - good news!

Hi Jamie.

I think there are 2 slightly different versions of the IVA test Basic or Normal, Not sure which way round but you can download the details from the Govt website.
http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/Transpor ... n_1111.pdf
See page 2 after the foreward
"The Basic IVA requirement” which is based around a visual inspection of the vehicle to assess its design and construction characteristics against the key EC technical areas. In most cases a visual inspection will be carried out and documentary evidence of compliance is not normally required, except for certain areas such as Gaseous Fuel tanks."

I think one is for if a private individual shows the car for test and the other if a manufacturer/builder puts in the test in which case the can cite similar cars which have already proven to be at the set standard. in these cases i think they just need to provide documentation to the test centre. this is also why i believe that when a manufacturer goes in for the test they are a lot quicker IE 2 hours instead of 4-5 hours.
I think you should be able to get hold of a certificate or letter of conformity for the seatbelt mountings from Westfield though, it cant hurt to ask.

Of course i could be wrong about this but i assume most kit conversions or home builts wont have a certificate to show either.

Post subject:  Re: KV6 sender / temp gauge

Does any one know which take off the water temp gauge is fed from vai a sender, on the KV6 there is plug coming from the bulkhead side (front) of the engine
and I had also been supplied with a threaded black pipe from GTM which I believe fits inline from the engine outlet going to the Rad. Is the plug on the block a temperature sender for the fan vai the ECU? I am currently off work at the moment due to crushing my little pinky like mush so i'm unable to get in the garage due to stitches, hoping to order my clocks off ETB next week as I did'nt like the white dials GTM supplied (reminds me off escort boyracers in the early nineties - but hey that's just my view) so just trying to find which senders i require.
