Re: Libra fan switch
Hi The fan is controlled by the engine ECU via a relay . It uses the brown temperature sensor on the engine . How do you know it is coming on to late ,do you mean at a higher temperature than you would expect when you check your temperature guage ? It could be that the your gauge is reading the temperature of the coolant at a higher value than it really is. The gauge derives its temperature reading from another sensor if I recall is coloured blue on the engine.
If this sensor is faulty this could make you come to the wrong conclusion.
I would check the accurately the coolant temperature at the sensor with a thermo couple attached to a digital multimeter that has this feature.
Ask around who can lend you one , this is possibly the quickest way you can determine whats going on.
It could then be that the brown temp sensor characteristics have changed and is faulty sending the wrong voltage to the ECU.
Is it the correct spec of temp sensor?
Taking the wire off this sensor will make the fan come on immediately. I hope this helps
Do you have a thermo switch actuation the fans in your built libra ,this could be also faulty ?
