Post subject:  a bit of circuit racing

Hi, something which may be of interest to some owners.

I have been trying to find a race series where I can run my early 80's kit car, originally powered by a 1310cc “A” series, (but now fitted with a more modern 1400cc car engine/gearbox) with the hope of having half a chance of being at least a competing, unfortunately even the 750 Motor Club's modern equivalent to their 80's kitcar series, their “Sports Special” series, with it's present classes, is not geared to allow small engined ie. upto 1400cc car engine/gearbox sports cars any real chance of competing unless they are pushing out 150bhp and weigh 450kgs.The HSCC is now running an “A” series class, but is quite rightly, pre1966, cars of the same type, some of which where built into the 80's 90's are not eligible, such as, Mini Marcos, GTM, Davrian, Ginetta, Lotus 11 replicars and a whole raft of other kitcars that were racing with the 750MC in the 80's currently have no where to run.

However, I have been talking to Hugo Holder, comps director @ CSCC and he is quite interested in trialling a class for these cars within a current series (probably for 2017) and if there is a very good response, our own series could follow.

If anyone is interested in digging out their 70's 80's or even 90's kit cars with either their original “A” series, Imp or small Ford, or modern car based equivalent engine upto 1400cc on road going tyres, (no bike engined cars) and go racing in a classic type atmosphere, then please contact me through this forum.

If there is enough interest I'm sure we can make it happen.

Thank you.

Ian Shearer.
