Hi just bought a unfinshed kit, I intend to finish and put it through the iva test.
Know nothing about GTM cars but did love the look of them.
Looking for some constructive advice from anyone who has reciently been through the test.
Live up north so thinking of going to the beverley test station in about 3 months.
Can you still drive to the test and anything been added to the test in the last couple of years.
Hope to be on the road this year so hopping to meet other car owners from around the north if there are any.
Cheers Ryo.

Hi Ryo,
Welcome!
Which model of GTM have you bought?
You mentioned a 1.4 engine in another post therefore I am assuming a K series powered car such as a K3?

Problem with IVA is likely to be glazing - All glazing needs to be E marked by the manufacturer of the windows.

A K3 uses a front screen from another car and will be OK.

If you have an original GTM Coupe the front screen is unique to that car and is unlikely to be E marked.
Side and rear glazing certainly won't be E marked (and needs to be).

For side and rear glazing it is possible to get polycarbonate glazing manufactured with the necessary E markings (but is very expensive).

Other things to watch out for are headlight heights and fuel tanks in enclosed spaces plus all the other IVA usual suspects regarding emissions, noise, sharp edges etc etc

I'm assuming it's the yellow 1.4 unfinished Libra that was on eBay

I would recommend getting on locostbuilders forum, you'll get more up to date IVA advice. It's a long time since any of our GTMs were IVA'd!

Also, there are a few builds getting near to IVA on Kitnet.uk - mainly 7's but some of the tips will be relevant.

I did take a look at the pictures on ebay. I noticed the rear trailing arm brackets are the individual ones so it will be one of the earlier cars. The chassis number will tell you - the last three numbers are the order they were produced so 001 was the first (or was it 000?). At a guess that would put it somewhere between 1998 and 2002?

Good luck getting it finished and through the test. It will be good to get it finished after its been 15+ years in the making!!
