Is there a way to get a notification when somebody responds to a topic?

When you are writing your post before you hit submit, there are some check boxes just above the submit button, second up from bottom is "Notify me when a reply is posted".


Should work never used it myself.

Also under User Control Panel > Board Preferences > Edit posting defaults > Notify me upon replies by default:
Then every post you make you subscribe to the thread so will automatically get an email.

Erm, done that but still not getting notifications... nothing on my junk email. And I keep having to log on, despite choosing the option to stay logged on.

Yes I get that too, have to log on every time even though I've just looked at another post.

The "stay logged on" thing used to work but stopped a couple of years ago and nobody has ever managed to fix it so we've learn't to live with it. I do get notifications when a new PM arrives but other than that I've never thought about notifications, just log in to see what is happening. There are too many notifications in this world so usually I'd be looking for how to turn them off, not on!

That is likely to be a cookie issue, either the board isn't setting them correctly or the hosting company is doing something 'funky'

It broke when I raised the security due to the spam sign ups we were having.

the admin/mods have to approve new posts, and when we were spammed we were seeing 50+ sign ups a day.

If Only I could remember which setting broke it.
