Post Wanted: Spyder or Libra
When I get back from my honeymoon at the end of April, I expect to be in the market for a second-hand pre-built Spyder (or possibly a Libra). I will be going to Stoneleigh to hopefully get a good look at a number of cars (I've never actually seen one in the flesh!) and hopefully making a purchase - at the show if at all possible. So if you or anyone you know is considering selling theirs, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

I don't have a garage so the car would need to be built and in good running order, apart from that I'll consider anything (e.g. 1.4 upto 1.8 VVC). Looking to pay below £8000 which I guess rules out new/very well spec'd/V6 models! But I'm seeing significant depreciation in recent ads so by my reckoning that amount should be easily enough for my needs - a bit of fun on country roads in something you don't see every day.

Only one I've seen for sale recently.

Yeah I've been checking pistonheads obsessively, so have seen that one. Not sold on the colour, especially as I would consider swapping the front out for the Spyder's which would necessitate some form of (expensive) painting. If I'm honest I'm also swaying towards a Spyder as the other half would prefer a convertible. I will look at the Libra roof when I'm back from honeymoon to see if it's close enough ;) It's removable, right...?

There was also a blue 1.4 Spyder on pistonheads for £6500 (needing a bit of gel coat repair and some other bits, but not too bad). I think the advert has expired butI've saved it for when I return from honeymoon ;)

I guess I'm hoping to prompt people to consider putting theirs up for sale come Stoneleigh time! Do people think there will be many with cars for sale actually at the show?

Wow, Spyders are truly few and far between. Far fewer than I thought, actually. I shan't expect to see a plethora at Stoneleigh then!

Didn't Westfield have their Spyder demonstrator on flea-Bay recently? -- started around £9k but had no takers -- £7.5k last time round -- don't know if its still available but might be worth a phone call.

Cheers for the tip, I rang Westfield and it turns out they've just updated the GTM website pre-owned section with details of the car. Doesn't seem like it can be the same one though - it's a 57 plate red 1.8, and they want 14k for it...

Looks kind of familiar -- maybe I got the price wrong. Unfirtunately I didn't "watch" it on e-bay so can't go back to check. Maybe make them an offer and see what happens.
