Wheels
Going through the car I will report the track and camber settings when finally done and when driving is good. I have 7 x 17 Compomotive wheels Do you guys think 16s are better If so where can they be bought at a sensible price Seems the Metro / MGF wheelnut spacing makes them expensive

Re: Wheels
Sorry - not quite on topic but info needed Are the brakes in the Libras heavy or light Seems the servo is working but heavy pedal Servo appears to be working and I think they either work or don't Part number or model of servo would be appreciated

Re: Wheels
Pull the vac tube off the servo and see if you're getting a decent pull off the engine with it running.
Is the servo corroded on top at all around where the master cylinder fits? There is an O ring sealing the master to servo. I found mine had corroded around there and water had got inside the servo so obviously that means it would leak air too. I kept the o ring seal but also added a rubber gasket (same shape as the master's 'foot') cut from some rubber gasket sheet for a better seal.
If you have standard metro front/rover rear brakes they are a bit poor I found. I fitted MGF 304mm discs and 4 pot calipers on the front and it gives better feel IMO.
I'm also looking at putting bigger discs & different calipers on the rear to match - currently looking at around 280mm discs with 2 pot calipers with separate mech handbrake calipers.
Servo is the one from the late metro/rover 100 series as is the master cylinder.
Have you checked that none of the calipers are seized etc and all function ok?

Re: Wheels
I've not checked my servo but I think its okay. My brakes need a fair shove on the pedal but when I've got used to the pressure needed they work fine. With no ABS I quite like having to push hard as it makes it less likely I'll lock up. I'm going to check the servo is working though.

Re: Wheels
I have the MGF front 4 pots Servo looks pretty rusty and old I will source a better Rover 100 unit The brakes do work but need too much shove to be comfortable All pads replaced and all calipers working well.

Re: Wheels
If you have the 4 pot calipers then I've a feeling you may have to stick with the 17" rims as I'm not sure they fit inside smaller wheels? I expect someone will come along and say you can though!

Re: Wheels
Sure enough, your right. I have the 305mm discs and 4pots on mine with 16" wheels on the front and fits fine with no spacers but probably depending on your wheel offsets that spacers may be required

Re: Wheels
Whilst on the subject of wheels I'm thinking about getting a set of cheap 15" alloys to use with track day tyres as they seem to be much cheaper in 15" than 16". There seem to be plenty of slightly ratty MGF 15" rims on fleabay - anyone know if they the right offset (or close enough)?

Re: Wheels
15s won't fit over the 4pots.

Re: Wheels
Mine aren't four pots. There seems to be plenty of room inside the 16" rims already on there, its just the offset I was wondering about

Re: Wheels
Offset compared to MGF is the question Have price coming to refurb the 17s Unless MGF wheels do fit then after market alloys to the PCD needed are costly Info about MGF offset would be really good

Re: Wheels
According to the god of google the offset for the MGF / TF is 30-35mm. There is some good info on this site : http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/su ... he_mgf.htmCheck out the range of weights! Some older posts from this wery forum too which are relevant : libra-gtm-wheels-304mm-disc-ap-racing-4pot-t2703.htmlRefurb should be 35-40 per wheel. Take the opportunity & get them to fit your nice new spangly tyres so you effectivley get them fitted free! Ideal if you sourc the tyres from mytyres, black circles or camskill as supply only.

Re: Wheels
Great, I've found a set of four MGF 15" rims for £50 (pick up only). I'm thinking I'll get these and use for track day tyres as things like R888s seem fairly reasonable in 15" but twice the price in 16" and there are quite a few second hand slicks in 15" but I've not seen any in 16".
Also if the rims are a bit rough it doesn't matter if I catch them on stuff.
Will probably then find my suspension isn't up to slicks without ARBs but that can be next years upgrade!
