GTO Front Lamp Control Hack
Hi all, quick hack which maybe useful for those using the GTO style front headlamp setup which uses separate dip & main lamp units. As the metro used 'single pocket' front lamps (H4 bulbs) when main beam is selected dip beam is switched off. This is both a practical & legislative requirement for single reflector lamp units. As we have separate units it would be advantageous to keep dip on when main is selected. This is actually very easy to achieve. There is a tall pink relay in the fuse box which is marked as dip beam control or something like that. If this relay is swapped for a regular 'changeover' relay (5 pin) then you'll get both dip & main when main beam is selected.
Don't do this if you're using the single H4 lamps as you will melt something!
Cheers.
