Excellent work getting this one back in shape!

Looking good. Makes me hanker after another coupe.....I had one back in the early 90's and loved it. Maybe when the Libra is finished and I've then done the Rossa...........(wistful look).

None on the sheet. The chap who did the MOT used to own a Cox GTM. I mentioned it's got a bit of an oil leak and he showed me it's coming from the gear selector and driveshaft and said they all leak there. He did comment on how solid the chassis is.

Some sound deadening definitely! I took it out for a proper blast last night and my ears were ringing when I got home. It drove really well, I might change the front pads as it doesn't have a lot of initial bite but they were getting better with use.

I've driven the car a few times now and the brakes have been terrible. It's got AP 4 pots on the front and the pedal had a a good feel but the brakes were wooden and no matter how hard you pressed you couldn't lock the wheels. I bought a set of Greenstuff pads and fitted them last night, as you can see below the old pads weren't very worn.

Even thought they aren't fully bedded in yet the brakes are transformed, loads more feel and bite. I'm going to bleed the brakes tomorrow just to get some fresh fluid in but the car is getting better to drive all the time

I've used EBC greenstuff pads a few times & really like them. Always found they improved the braking over what they replaced. Only downside to them is they're quite soft & wear quite quickly. But i guess thats just the price you pay for the improvement in braking.

It pays to buy good pads, I use to run Green stuffs on the front they do have good initial bite unless you cook them. On the rear I had cheap pads, changed to green stuffs and it made a huge difference to handbrake performance which helps at MOT time.

Also its worth noting if discs and pads are new it will take time for the discs to bed in, once the discs are bed in you start to get some small amounts of brake pad in the surface of the disc and they will get better again but this can take a while.

I'd run them on other cars and they worked well on them so figured they would be a good bet. Braided hoses are going to be one of the next upgrades, I need to get the n/s calliper looked at before I do them as 2 of the 3 bleed nipples were sheared off when I got the car.

No real progress with the car with a new addition to the family. I have been purchasing a few bits ready to do some work over the next couple of months.

I like the MX5 seats but the base of the seat is not flat underneath and so I had to space it up more than i'd like and it makes you sit a bit high. These popped up fairly local to me and pretty cheap so I thought i'd give them a try instead. They are pretty tidy although i'd like to try and sort the headrests out as some of the foam inside has separated.

The MG Metro callipers currently fitted have some snapped bleed nipples and are in need of an overhaul. I got hold of these KAD 4 pots to fit along with braided hoses, i've got some new vented discs to go on as well.

Whilst the seats are out i've also bought some silent coat sound deadening to put on the rear bulkhead and floor to try and stop some panel vibration and quieten things down a bit.

I decided I wasn't keen on the Corbeau seats when I tried one in the car so i'm going to move them on and keep my eyes open for something better.

One of the things I would like to do is update some of the gauges. I like the Racetech gauges but they are pretty expensive so i've been keeping my eyes open for some used ones. I won a used mechanical oil pressure one on eBay for £13 that had a cracked glass and then I swapped the glass over with the original gauge and fitted it. I'll repaint the bezels when i've got hold of some of the other gauges.

I've added the sound deadening I bought, i've fitted some on front footwells, the floor under the seats and the bulkhead behind the seats.

They aren't as close to the drive flange as the photo makes out. A quick test drive proved nothing was binding anywhere and that the pedal has a nice feel to it.
