Well excellent service from AK speedo's for the new lcd display ordered wednesday evening from website arrived 9.30am friday morning fitted in easily and the re assembly was simple. Powered the unit up on the bench for the stepper motor to reset to its home position then pressed on the pointer at 0 mph fitted glass and bezel back on then fed square wave from signal generator into input to test operation all was well fit back in car tomorrow

Paul I fed in square wave from signal generator and gradually turned up the amplitude from zero so I did not measure the amplitude but if it is fed from proximity switch on the car guess this is 12V. It looks like the gen was set to 6.5V pk-pk so this is +/- the speedo 0V so looks like the threshold is around 6.5Vdc you can try 5V but may be slightly low

If it is just the lcd not working they are fairly easy to replace.
