Hi Dan
My suggestions would be take a long hard look at the MGF frames and particularly the MGF trophy rear suspension with the swing arm arangement. If I was to start again this is the route I would now choose, I would mimic the trophy setup on the mini frame. If you stuck with a normal mini setup you will need to add alot of additional material around the towers which is weight, I have added braces etc which have helped but the B18 is right in the way for the ideally placed brace shes fills the engine bay.
With your choice of engine can it fit between the standard subframe just in front of the towers, or do you have to remove this like most people. If you do have to remove this I would def say trophy style rear suspension would be a good avenue to look at.

Neil Trophy being the one with coilovers rather than hydragas? engine fits between the towers (alternator needs moving), needs the part between the towers cutting out for the transmission. (like this one http://minimike2bc.tripod.com/DCP00802.jpg) should be easier than the b18 being 993cc and only 3 cylinders! so far all I have done is butcher a spare frame up to see what needs cutting out on my proper subframe

I bought, 3 years ago, a GTM Coupe (a competition car) with a D16A9 engine already fitted in it with a much modified mini subframe and it all works well - yopu are welcome to have a look at it - in the West Midlands - if it is any help. The engine has no alternator fitted which may be a problem if it was to be a road car

On a cb80 the balance shaft drive clashes with suspension tower! You can shift the engine to the left to avoid this, then the starter needs to be rotated towards the front otherwise it hits the other tower and you may find the gearbox interferes with the left tie bar.

David Thanks for the offer, will you be using it in competition this year? perhaps I'll have a look if you are! Probably not, I have another GTM Coupe with a 1200cc Kawasaki engine, which is lighter and quicker so I will probably be selling the red Honda engined car. David
