Post EVG 60H - anyone still got it?
I owned a Coupe back in the 80's/90's. Registration number EVG 60H.
So the usual question from a newbie, does anyone on here still own it?

Wow, I haven't visited the forum for a while then login for a browse and see this 8)

I own this car. Bought it from someone in Essex back in 1998. He'd owned it less than a year and left it standing in long grass for most of that time so the floor was rotten.
We ended up replacing all the floor, parts of the bulkheads and sills. We also took the subframes back to bare metal and did other general restoration jobs.
It then came to a halt for the best part of a decade as other cars and projects got in the way.
We eventually MOT'd it last year and drove to the Newark Kit Car show.

I was going to turbocharge it and also fit full engine management but thats been delayed for a while as I'm working on another project (surprise surprise) and that's taking up all my finances at the moment.
It currently has an MG Metro engine in it with a downdraft Weber 28/36.
I do have some new parts to fit to it and parts left over from other Mini projects so it's likely to get electronic ignition, a 44mm SU carb and some work done on the rear suspension until I can afford to uprate the power.

It's nice to hear from a previous owner. If you can tell me anything about the car it would be much-appreciated or if you have any more photos I would be very interested.

:D
Brilliant!
Great to know that its still about & having TLC lavished on it.

Can give you the whole story of my ownership if you want, but i'm not very good at typing! By any chance are you going to Newark this year? I will be going, probably on the Sunday. Would be good to meet up with you & i'd love to see it again. If not, i can PM my phone number to you & we can have a chat, if you want.

Short version of my ownership:
bought it local to me ( Norwich) without an engine in about 89. Gel coat badly faded as well.
Looked for an engine & went to local scrapyard. Somewhat shocked to find they had a crash damaged (frontal) GTM in a barn with 1275cc engine in it. Bought the whole car & used the engine and many other bits as well.
Later fitted a reconditioned engine & had a re-spray. Sold it in 93.

i have quite a few more photo's of it, i'll post some up when i'm at my PC ( on iPad at the moment)

Right, here go's with the photo's.

Weasel -
I've put them in a public folder on Dropbox. That way you can view or save them full size (rather than having to re-size them to 640x480 on here).
You should be able to just click on each link to view them (have to do a link for each pic - Dropbox won't allow me to do all at once in a folder!)
Let me know if you can't see them.

These are when i bought it (no engine & faded gel coat)

These were after a bit of tidying up (re-con engine, paint job & various bit from the salvaged crash damaged car)

Hi Sven. Thank you so much for the info on the time you owned the car and also the high quality photos. The car still has the same carb but I think it had another engine bottom end installed before I bought it.
The only real upgrade we've done so far is fit front disc brakes but hopefully it's the first of many improvements. I also found some lightweight Cobra Imola 2 seats. The bucket seats shown in your photos are different to the seats that came with the car, so they've changed a few times lol.
That's so weird that you found another in a scrapyard!
All being well I'll be attending Newark on the Sunday with my Father so hopefully we can meet up for a chat.

It's still a work-in-progress but here are some fairly recent photos of the car:-

Great to see pictures of the car now. Brings back a lot of good memories :D

Looks like it still has 13" wheels on the back & 12" on the front. Thats because it originally had 4 x 12" wheels (no spare) when i got the car. Then when i got the crashed one it had 13" wheels that were almost identical & in better condition. But one was smashed in the crash so only had 3 !!!
So i put two 13" on the back & two 12" on the front & a 12" as a spare. Slightly different profile tyres meant that the diameter was almost the same.

I am hoping to get to Newark on the Sunday so will keep an eye out for you.
