Fuel injection question
Still in planning stage but has anyone fitted a mini MPI fuel tank fit in a Rossa?
Would the mpi pump be up to running a tuned 1600 engine?
How good is it surge wise - trying to avoid fitting seperate swirl pot, high pressure pump (and lift pump)
Regards,
Allen

Re: Fuel injection question
looking at a similar thing for myself good info on the sbd site for general plumbing swirl pot not really needed if the pump is lower than the tank and has a good supply of fuel gravity feed is best been informed the tank being tall and narrow helps prevent surge you could always foam fill it extra safety and acts like a baffle and the tank is pretty badly positioned for accident damage so safety foam would be a wise move not found any yet that can cope with E85 bioethonol fuel i would like to use so may just stick with unleaded

Re: Fuel injection question
Thanks for the information, must look at the sbd site.
So, basically don't let the level go too low and it'll probably work - Is the tank the same shape - will it fit in the same position without major modification?

Allen

Re: Fuel injection question
Should fit ok same shape as the tank already fitted to rossa as has to fit around the mini arch just the same if you have trouble sourcing a mpi tank try DMC in Willenhall they did have spares adverts in most minimags
id use a pump of the donor car to be sure of the fueling too easy source one from a scap yard

Re: Fuel injection question
Thanks for that. Looking to fit a zetec SE but intend to fit throttlebodies and probably new cams - so I guess an uprated pump is required.

Re: Fuel injection question
You will probaly be surprised at how much a MPI Mini pump can support, as im sure from memory its bigger than a SPI, If you can get the part number for it you might be able to find more info with a google search on how much it flows and at what pressure. Typically speaking even the smaller pumps are good for a little over 200hp. West

Re: Fuel injection question
Sounds like the standard pump might do.
