Post Gearbox change?
Good morning, following some investigation last night and getting the clutch cable to adjust properly I can confirm that my clutch is very much is best :( . So I new clutch is now on the cards. If i am going to take the gear box out to replace the clutch do i replace the gear box with PSG1 box from MGF?
This would also mean that i would change the gear change system to cable from MGF and the clutch to hydraulic.
Do I need to replace the drive shafts and are the gear box mounts similar?
I already have a MGF engine and gear box and all the other parts, except the rear subframe as these were supplied with car, with idea of doing an engine upgrade to 1.8VVC. I do really want to swap the engine at this stage as I not been able to drive the K3 for any length of time, only to MOT station and back. On my initial experience of the K3 on road I not sure it can take the extra weight and power, I never driven a car with so much body flex  . My Davrians are much stiffer and these are known to pop windscreens out!

If you change the box to a PG1 you will need the driveshafts from the MGF and will need to change the gear change and convert to hydraulic clutch [much better than cable].
You reuse the 1.4 gearbox mount on the PG1.

You could put the 1.8VVC [using the 1.4 engine mount] with the 1.4 [R65] box [as a lot of Libra owners have done] then you won't have to change all the above.

There are other VVC powered K3's on the road so should be ok :?:

Hello,

I have not seen a VVC engine in a K3, I believe that different water outlet housing on the exhaust side will not clear the bulkhead on the tub. If you look on Talon Sports cars web site under Talon GTM K3R there are various photo's of a VVC unit in a modified tub.

I am currently having a roll bar made with links to the windscreen header rail to help improve rigidity when the hard top is off.
