Relays are good, not just a question of the cabling to the switches, it's the contacts in the switches themselves. However, the relays should be mounted close to the item they're operating (less heavy duty wiring, less voltage drop etc.), not clustered under the dash. It's easier in a front engined car that has the battery next to the engine.

Anyway, progress, I prefer an electric fuel pump, you can hear it working and if the car is used infrequently you don't have to crank the engine over for ages filling the float chamber.

I've been thinking that if the pump was U/S I'd get an electric one. I fitted an electric one to my triple-webered 240Z for exactly the same reasons as you said - starting up after sitting for a while took ages :lol:
