 Old race track in Scotland
My Coupe was a racecar in its hayday - at least that the story I was told by the previous owner. Nothing serious, just some clubmens trackdays and hillclimbs. I have no other info, just that the car lived around Edimburgh.
On which tracks and hillclimbs could it run?
By the way the name G. D. Mortimer rings a bell for anyody? He was the first owner (builder) of the Cox as far as I know.

Re: Old race track in Scotland
Where shall we start. Ingliston (Edinburgh) & Knockhill for Tracks at that time Strathclyde park, Doune, Kames, Wick Airfield, Golspie, Fintray, Rumster for Hillclimbs/sprints I can't remember if Durris was on the list at this time, it was later (90s) and short lived. I Remember seeing a Coupe at Doune once, it was about the time I 1st thought of getting one, so 1985(ish). http://www.ingliston-circuit.co.uk/index.htmlhttp://www.knockhill.com/index2.phphttp://www.dounehillclimb.co.uk/http://www.progcovers.com/motor/strathclyde800405.jpghttp://www.eastayrshirecc.co.uk/trackhttp://www.caithnesscarclub.co.uk/caithness-location.asphttp://www.gac.org.uk/

Re: Old race track in Scotland
Thanks!
I will google the net to find some pics of the races. I would like to imagine the Cox in its hayday.
1985? I think my car was running a way before. It was last on the road in 1984, and according to the pics, it was in a bad state that time.

Re: Old race track in Scotland
I've found some links to start you with. Also add Forestburn but again 1990 before it started http://www.mscc.org.uk/index.htmMight be worth asking on http://www.scottish-sprinting.co.uk/flatchat or http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&f=118&mid=28816If anyone remembers the car.

Re: Old race track in Scotland
Scottish racetracks of the Cox's era would have been Ingliston (Edinburgh) and possibly Knockhill (Fife). Hillclimbs likely are Bo'ness, Kinkell Braes (St.Andrews), Doune, Strathclyde Park or possibly Rest and be Thankful.
Apart from my own GTMs, I have only seen one other Coupe at a Scottish speed event and that was at a Golspie sprint in the far north.
I did see a Cox GTM competing in a rallycross event at Knockhill in the 70's - I remember that it came to a sticky end as it got out of phase with some yumps and went end over end.

Yes that is the one. Angus holds the Sports Libre up to 1400cc class records at Fintray and Golspie (Kylestrome). I still hold the (obsolete) record at Boyndie (old Saturday circuit) in the same car.

Re: Old race track in Scotland
On the car, there was "reg. no." painted: 1160 FS. And another no. appears in the logbook: MGS 641 G. The car was originaly yellow than silver, repainted yellow again (3 layers ).
