Post newbie with daft question.
hello everyone, im just trying to sell my custom mini project on ebay because ive seen a rossa local to me so need to sell mine to buy it. it has a R1 engine fitted in front along with prop for rear wheel drive and rear disc brakes, the thing is if i manage to sell mine and buy it i would propaly take out all the bike stuff as it still needs the gear linkage making, and fit an A series. the engine is no prob as i have some but i would need the modified gear shifter and exhaust, will the engine run the right way even though it is the wrong way round? if i dont buy it has anyone got one for sale/swap. my mini is at.................

The engine still faces forwards even when in the back, so that's the right way.

I really don't think that Rossa is for you if you want to fit an A-series, far better to wait for a complete car to come along and then go out for a run in it to see if you like it, I believe there is a fair bit of flex in the shell, especially when the hard-top is off.

Hi and welcome,
There is no such thing as a daft question when talking about kit cars

I am assuming that the Rossa is already fully road registered (seems to have a tax disc on the screen).
Hopefully the current owner has not butchered any of the fibreglass monocoque shell to install the R1 and drivetrain.

If so I see no problem in reverting back to a Mini/Metro engine in the back.

The gearshift mechanisim is available from Rossabitzs on this forum.
He probably can do an exhaust as well although it would be easy enough to fabricate one.

The engine sits in the same orientation as the original Mini/Metro it is just 10 feet further back therefore the car still has 4 forward and one reverse gear.....

nice one guys, i really want to keep it as a bike engine if poss and if i can get a gear linkage thats all it needs. it is registered as a rossa on log book. the bike install looks to be a top job and he said the roof has been bonded and bolted on. the bike kit has the exhaust made ready to fit, it has been on for the mock up and fits great. all wiring has been made by a proffessional auto spark along with a large laminated wiring diagram to finish things such as clock gauges and switches. the person that is selling it showed me his new zcars mini and his twin R1 engined mini that is on the road and has all relevant tests. i'll get in touch to see about the gear linkage. i will just need some seats to finish as i have everything else for the interior. it has normal seat belts fitted at the moment so i guess i could use and seats as it also comes with harnessess if needed. i will be making a paid up membership soon so watch this space.

Ignore the info about the gear linkage if you are retaining the R1 engine!

You can simply fabricate a rod system with bell cranks and rod end joints or use a push-pull cable.

What rear differential is fitted and is it connected up by a suitable propshaft?

Hopefully the direction of rotation should be correct but worth checking by pushing the car forwards and see which way the propshaft rotates with respect to the output of the R1's gearbox.
