Post Taking the plunge with a K3
Anyone know any history of this car;

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2848527.htm

Current owner has been very helpful and up front so hoping there's nothing he doesn't know that I should know this close to parting with the cash!

Thanks,

I sorry I don't know any history about the K3 except it was on Pistonheads earlier this year for £4,300.

It looks excellent, I did enquire regarding the extend wheel archs, but i got no reply.

Talking to the owner earlier he doesn't know where the arches came from, they look a bit like Golf (Mk1) maybe. Pics http://forum.performancevwmag.com/viewtopic.php?t=46162&sid=e63bf9b01ee4d05cdcb9d9f7a2ace7f3

OK I have the car. Seems to be well known (read used:-) and a good running project for me. Found a few pics around the net from 2005 as well.

Recent photos here.

First jobs will be;
- Adjust ride height, suspension geometry (done yesterday)
- Remove rear wing to see how it looks without it :)
- Roll bar or roll cage (safety, reduce shell twist)
- Re-cover or replace seats
- Source new headlamp covers
- Refit clams using 'lift and rotate' adjustable hinges

Future
- Paint job to restore original colour (gel coat is faded)
- MGTF subframes (so I can ditch the Hydragas)
- Engine upgrade to 1.8 or KV6 :)

Anyone else got any history, previous owners etc of this car then let me know, good or bad :)

Thanks, I'll pick some up at Newark then.

I almost bought my old Marlin but it needs too much work after 20 years and 11 owners.
