K3 Q+A
Due the minimal amount of info i can find on the net i have a few questions.
1) Any idea what these cutouts in the soft top and hard top moulding would have been for, there are mounting holes in the windscreen surround aswell?
2) Is it normal for the wiring and pipe work to be routed along the sill between the carpet or can/should it be inside the sill itself?
3) The washer bottle has been cut to clear the damper mounting, the arch liner is nicely moulded for the bottle so i'm assuming the bottle shouldnt require cutting? Are these damper mounts different to how they should be?
4) How is the soft top ment to seal againts the window? It seems to require a plastic piece behind the material to hold the shape around the window and then a rubber seal to stop the water getting in?
5) Was there ever a fibreglass panel produce to cover the fuel tank/rear bulk head as there is in the libra's as the current panelling has seen better days?
Thanks for taking the time for reading, and i hope you guys/gals have some ideas for me.
1. Looks like it may be for some sort of roll bar, as the windscreen tends to vibrate at spped with the roof off.
2. My old car had the pipes etc running as yours does.
3. Not normal to have cut out for damper although mine did not have dampers.
4. There is no seal on the side windows other than the flat of hood.I used to get a wet seat.
5. Seem to remember there was a moulding to cover tank but not 100% sure.

Awesome thanks for that, will speak to the local trimmers to see what ideas they have for the soft top. Will have to find a build diary to see if theres any mention of a tank cover.

Re: K3 Q+A
There should be a glassfiber moulded panel to cover the rear bulkhead/fuel tank area and is usually covered in some sort of fabric.
Hi Tom I'll check to see if I have the mould for the rear bulkhead. It may take a while as all the moulds are stacked in storage. Regards

Thanks Alan, was going to give you a call in the morning in regards to this and a build manual also. Appologies for not getting to you to get the throttle cable.
Fingers crossed you've got a mould, looking forward to your findings.

3. Didn't later Metro GTI's have shocks on the front? Could be a later subframe, or an MGF setup. 5. My car has some sort of cover under the carpet, but it looks like a plastic mould rather than fiberglass.

5 - Mine was deffo a fg mouding rather than plastic.
Why not chuck some cash at it? Get a custom made 'slab' type tank made (rather than the metro one that's small, an odd shape and only just fits) - them make Your own arrangement(s) to hide it
