Nice I used to really like Europas back in the 60s (and still do) but they look a bit heavy at the back now.

Re: GTM Coupe vrs Lotus Europa
I prefer the front of the GTM, but the deck lid is much busier on the GTM. the Lotus rear deck is smooth, but the back it a bit high.. The cars ride quite similar, but you almost lie down in the Lotus, much more upright sitting in the GTM. Quality of the fit and finish is better on the Lotus, but even the door fit is inconstant, and the hood and rear engine cover are quite light and not very stiff.... I guess that's a product of a fibreglass body..

Nice work Mike. A very interesting study of 2 of my favourite cars. I've never seen them side by side like this before. Neither are perfect, with nice touches in places and compromised design in others. My favourite part of the europa however is the interior and in particular the dashboard.....!

Re: GTM Coupe vrs Lotus Europa
Brilliant. Lovely to see them side by side. Have to say that i lusted after a Europa when i was a kid. When i was about 5 years old (1970), my father got a job at Lotus. I've always lived within a few miles of Hethel, where the Lotus factory is. So over the next few years, he was always coming home with a bunch of brochures - usually Europa & Elan. The one that caught my eye the most was the Europa. Many hours were spent dreaming about owning one! By the time i reached 16 years old, the car that i wanted was .............you guessed it....a GTM Coupe. I'd always thought that there was a lot of similarities between them, but i've never seen them side by side until now! Did get to own a GTM Coupe a few years later, but alas never a Europa. Oh well, there's always time yet..... Really great to see these pics. Cheers Mike.

Re: GTM Coupe vrs Lotus Europa
I've been on a few road trips/rally's in my mates Europa, and when it's my turn to drive we take the Mini VTEC sedan.. hopefully next spring, we can take the GTM Coupe on the road trip. Mini Meet West 2013 is about 400 miles (650km) each way.. so hope to have the car ready for that trip in late June.
