Coupe Dash
Can anyone help me out on the design of a good coupe dash, I'm now at the stage where I need to get this done to allow the next process of wiring to commence. The one originally in mine was hopeless so it was bined and I was wondering if anyone had plans for a good one. Mine is based around a 13" wheel body with the Triumpth Dolimite steering rack. Any advise would be appreciated. I was contemplating on a one piece fibre glass dash, or maybe a aluminium one. Also if someone has a good interior layout (photos) ie floor covering and trim etc and doesn't mind sharing them that would be of a help too.

Re: Coupe Dash
I'm working on this idea, moving the rev counter to the middle of the field of view.

Re: Coupe Dash
Thanks for that, the one on the red coupe is along the same idea as mine, its just good to see what other people have done before you go re-inventing the wheel. Who made your fibreglass one?

Re: Coupe Dash
Oh, that would make sense, I didn't have one of those, the original one in mine was a terrible material covered wooden one that was made badly.

Re: Coupe Dash
I'm going to be starting on the design of my dash soon. I've just got to finish sorting out the steering column, as I'm using one from a Maestro, with the stalks from a Metro. I'll get the cardboard out and use a bit of CAD (Cardboard Aided Design). Always the best way to design, when you've got to interact with something. I'm going to have a lower rail, which the steering column will hang from, with a bulge infront of the wheel, to allow for more room for dials. I'm also going to extend the dash down to the central tunnel, to leave room for switches. I'm mounting the heater over on the passenger side, as it will mainly be used for clearing the screen.
I'll post some pictures when I get it sorted out.

Re: Coupe Dash
Here is the final product, took a little doing but all working now, will top it with fibreglass to strengthen and also help create a smooth surface.

Re: Coupe Dash
The standard Coupe dash is a one piece fibreglass moulding.

Re: Coupe Dash
The effect is part of the mould that it was taken from. Probably the best way of covering a repair on the dash is to get it flocked. It has the added advantage of stopping it dazzling you when the sun shines on it too!
