Post My Cars Been Damaged!:-(
Hi all....
Am feeling really gutted and upset with what happened yesterday.
My GTM has been at my parents form the past 6 months or so, due to moving and having to prepare the garage etc.
All was really got me to transport the car over, however we had to use a trailer as the clutch cylinder needs replacing, and the car is currently on SORN.
Two friends of mine were driving the car and trailer, and I was following in my car.
As we came off of the M4 on to the M25, the car started fish tailing badly, all I could do was watch as it got worse thinking that everything was going to just flip over. Both the car and the trailer ended up doing a complete 180 degree spin in unison, however the back end of the trailer smashed hard in to the barrier, resulting in the damage you can see in the photo.
I was initially more worried about my friends being hurt, but after everything was sorted out and we were back, knowing they were okay, the reality set in as to what had happened to the car:-(
I don't know where to start or what to do....
I've checked all over and it looks like there isn't damage anywhere else.

I'm in Camberley so does anyone know of somewhere decent that could fix it?
Or
Am I better off replacing the rear bumper etc? (Both panels) If so I have no idea where from?

What makes this worse is that I was about to start a few minor jobs, to get the car ready for a complete re-spray, ready for the summer :-(

Regards
Paul

That is repairable if you can find somebody with experience of working with GRP in your area.

Hi
Sorry to hear of your accident.
I own the Rossa 1,2 & some K3 moulds.
I can supply the body panels but they are not cheap.
The colour cannot be matched so they would also need
painting.
This is not a problem if the insurance is dealing with it.

Sorry to see this. I've had a trailer related incident in the past, it's really unpleasant to see it happening and not be able to do anything about it. In my case my shell come if the trailer.

Hi all,
Always thank you all so much for your replies.
David- I'm in Camberley Surrey so the midlands would be a bit of a treck. 'I think' I may have found somebody more local, thank you though

Baxter- I wouldn't claim on my friends insurance as it was accident. I was more worried about them at the time

apbellamy- Sorry to hear you had a similar issue. Mine could have been a lot worse like yours was. hope you managed to get yours sorted out

Allan@rossabits- Thanks again for looking in to replacement panels etc. Let me know how much they will be when you know. At this stage though it might be cheaper and easier for me to get the damage repaired

I'll keep everyone updated :-)
Regards
Paul

It just tore the front valance of the car, so could have been a lot worse. At least it was before I had had the car painted...

On another one make forum for fiberglass bodied cars, a guy was getting his (posh) car fixed here, although it wasn't a Marcos. He reckoned a guy there had good skills.

http://www.redlinesportscars.com/repairs.php

Might be worth checking out.

Good Luck

with patience, white spirit, fibre glass and resin you can make it strong yourself.
as for making it look as good as it was pre accident - thats another thing.
that takes skill and lots of time.

my nelly was hit 18 months ago - see this forum for pics and i fixed her myself - she still needs a
full respray and proper sorting but my repair is strong and i use her everyday.

im a weird old timer . .. cough i will get my coat . . .
