I live in Lichfield in Staffordshire, so am nonwhere near either of the existing local groups.

I'm having a clear out at home at the moment and have just come across the 1995 membership directory for the GTM Owners Club. It's surprising how many members back then lived nearby in Staffordshire and the West Midlands. I wonder how many of them are still GTM owners and/or members of GTMOC?

Are there still other members in South Staffordshire or the West Midlands and, if so, is it worth organising a get together?

This is a really good plan. I live in Walsall and would support a local club meeting. I do know of another guy who lives not far from me who has a roadgoing coupe that he built from a kit 20-30 years ago - I don't think he is a club member but I guess if there was a meeting he may become interested.

Would be great if we could get something started. I'm not suggesting that we should meet every week, but an occassional get together, say once a month, would be great.

Perhaps meet at a pub somewhere? Unless people want to see my Rossa, in which case we'll have to meet at a lock-up garage in Lichfield, at least for the next few months!! It's a way off being roadworthy, but having a local group meeting to take her to would be an added motivation to get her back on the road.

PS: in the directory which I have there are 8 members in Staffordshire and 12 in the West Midlands. Of those, there are members in Hednesford, Stonnall, Stafford, Burntwood, Walsall(2), Willenhall and Great Barr. The rest are further away near Stoke or south of Birmingham.

Hi Guys, It would be great if you could get a group started in the West Midlands.
We started in the East Midlands by asking the secretary for a list of members then contacted
everyone within a radius of 50 miles of a chosen meet point, with a suggested day and time. I had to use "snail mail" in those days, which was expensive but email contact is now available.
Once you have a group together you can sort out between you how and when you want to run your meet.
I wish you every success and hope you get something running in the near future.

Don't worry, Bob - I wasn't going to contact anyone from the old list. I was just interested in the number of people locally who might be long term GTM enthusiasts. I also deliberately avoided using names in my earlier post, only approximate locations. I wouldn't contact anyone outside the forum without your clearance first.

The venue that has been suggested for a West Midlands get together is the Bell Inn, Birmingham Road, Walsall, WS5 3JP. This seems like an ideal location, as it’s central to the members in the area and there are at least 22 of us within a thirty mile radius. It's also just north of junction 7 of the M6, close to the end of the M5 and on the A34 from Walsall to Birmingham, so is easily accessible from almost any direction. It’s an Ember Inn, so does reasonably priced food and a range of beers.

There are also some GTM owners in the area who are not GTMOC members. If you are one of them then could you let me know if you are interested in meeting up and I'll let you know more details. Either PM me on this site or email me at peter204@hotmail.co.uk. Also, if you know any GTM owners who are not in the owners club, could you pass my email address on to them.
