Gearbox mount
Looking at improving the standard metro r65 gearbox mount by encasing it in this stuff. http://www.mbfg.co.uk/polyurethane-rubbers/3808.htmlAny suggestions or coments should I remove all the original rubber or just add this stuff to it. Thanks Matty

Re: Gearbox mount
Hi Matty, Did you speak with Nathan and get a firm quote. his number: 07799533465 from the Metropower forum. There was some suggestion that they were about £30, this has got to be an easier and safer solution.

Re: Gearbox mount
I've just done this to mine using the polyurethane rubber you mention above. Relatively straightforward, though I do a lot of PU resin casting anyway as part of another hobby so am used to handling this type of stuff.
I left the original rubber in place (washed the muck off), sealed off one side with a bit of wood and some oil base sculpting clay and poured it in. The rubber gels in less than a minute I found so you have to not hang about and then sets in 5-10mins.

Re: Gearbox mount
Did you do this Matty? If so, how did it turn out. Thinking of trying it myself.

Currently on with it, got a spare mount from scrapyard and it has gone to Nathan at I tuned he charged £37 to do the work and return it plus the mount was £5 and postage down there £4.20, should hopefully be on its way back soon will post details when I get it back. Re: Gearbox mount
Arrrh! If i'd have realised 'I tuned' was that close to me i'd have taken mine over there. But as i've already bought the PU liquid in the above post i may as well have a go myself. At least i know if i cock it up, i can run it over to Nathan Thanks

Re: Gearbox mount
Had a couple of hours spare today, so took the gearbox mount off & had a go at filling it with PU rubber. Seemed to go OK, nothing too difficult. Not quite as neat as Nathan's ones look but as its the first time i've tried moulding with this stuff, i'm quite happy with the results. Will put it back on the car tomorrow & see if it makes a difference!
