Post Rossa locks
Hi, I'm trying to finish a part rebuilt Rossa that I bought this year. Can anyone tell me origin of the front and rear lock set ups. Photos would be helpful, or a look at a car if there's anyone with a Rossa 2 near Wincanton, Somerset. I don't think I have all the correct parts and bonnet and boot panels have never had locks fitted.
Appreciate any help/advice.
Regards Keith

Hi. My door locks, handles, inner catches etc. are all Metro and I think the boot is too. I don't know if all Metros are the same but mine came from a 1990 model which was a Mk1. The bonnet catch mechanism came from the same Metro, I think, but it's the same as fitted to many Austin Rover cars including the Mini but you'll need the cable operated version.

Hi Raymond, Thanks for photos. My doors are ok. My problem is the bonnet and boot as these panels have never seen locks/catches. from your pics my rear panels are different. Yours are cut differently around the number plate and under the air filter. I think I've got a mk1 that has mk2 front and rear panels. Anyway any info will help me sort it out. Thanks Keith

Memo to self: Read the post properly  I've deleted the photos I posted because they're irrelevant and taking up space. I took some more for you today -

Bonnet: GTM supplied a safety catch with the kit but it was long gone before I got the car so I got this one from ebay but it's a bit long and I had to be very careful to position it so that it didn't come down through the radiator... I found the bonnet catch a real pain to set up properly and discovered that the safety catch was binding between the bonnet and the tub so preventing it from closing right down. A bit of bending and filing fixed it but it would have been much easier to get the correct one in the first place which I think hooks on to the side of the raised catch mounting

Boot: Much easier to fit and adjust!

The Mk2 Rossa has the same central tub and mechanicals as the Mk1 - it's just the front and rear panels that are different. Hopefully somebody will shout out if the catches are different. Cheers.

Hi Raymond, Brilliant, just what I needed. Looks like I have boot locks but mine has 3 bolt holes. Looks same as yours otherwise, small mod required ! I saw some other photos with this lock in the bonnet set up. I have nothing like your bonnet set except the safety catch, but it gives me something to work to. My car definitely has Mk2 panels back and front, they haven't seen the road yet.
Appreciate your time and help. Thanks Keith
