Looking to get a early car
Hello everyone I am new to the forum (and the club) and was wondering if anyone had any leads on an early car (67 to 71) that I could purchase. I am not bothered about condition or spec as I intend to build it up as a Historic racing car so pretty much everything would need to be replaced/rebuild. I'm willing to wait till the right car comes up and to pay a good price for it! I have built race cars as a teen with my Father and have a background it Sheet metalwork/engineering so will be taking on nearly all the work myself, mainly because I am not rich! I came across an old copy of CCC and saw the GTM build article and it got me thinking, I have looked at the small engined alternatives but I think it will make an excellent historic racer and is something a bit different from the Sprites and Spitfires, so if anyone can help the I would be interested in hearing from them. Thanks in advance Simon Grist

Re: Looking to get a early car
I stupidly sold my early gtm, then was gutted when it became obvious that there was an opening for them to be raced...
grrrrrr!!!
they will make a great race car, as they can be made to handle so well and are very neutral and well balanced

I wish I had not spilled petrol filling a new aluminium tank setting fire to my 69 Cox John

Re: Looking to get a early car
This may be a bit of a long shot but there was an early Coupe advertised for sale at a Mini show a few months ago. When I rang the number I repeatedly got no reply, I left text and voice messages but still no reply. I eventually bought a later Coupe. If you want to try, the sellers number was 07789914368. The car was in need of a lot of work, but good luck.
