I've got a quick question on this one. Dino, did they say how much current the screen pulls? I was talking to someone who used to work for Ford, who said that their screens were about 40amps when they were flat out.

I don't think it'll be anywhere near 40A !
Won't know for sure exactly what the spec is until the manufaturer has received my screen and drawn up the design, but as an estimate it should be similar to a Mini screen which off the top of my head is less than 20A.

i know of a a possible mk1 screen, the differeence apears to be across the top, its straight compared to the mk2 that curves following the curvature of the roof, Early Cox used them

That's OK, I know it's always a balancing act.
We don't have to finalise the numbers for a few weeks yet so if you change your mind, or rather Her mind! just let me know.

Dino
plse to add me to the list.

I've run a Coupe during winter (not garaged)
A heated windscreen would be a real boost to visibility!

Hi, definitely interested in a new windscreen (see my other post!) and a trick heated one adds to the desire and pose value.. :D

Is there an option with the chosen manufacturer to add any heat reflective treatment/tint (whatever they call it!). Just a concern over the few times when we get hot summer days and not wanting the smell of medium-rare GTM driver wafting around the interior.. Sure my normal steel box has a very slight tint to it to reduce the heating effect and glare. Just a thought but still interested none-the-less!

Pete.

I'll know more exactly when we get the final figures back from the manufacturer, but my understanding is that the tint is part of the interlayer between the 2 sheets of glass, so even though it's called a clear/top tint there is something all the way down.
The basic principle is that it will look like a modern oem screen, not a 'custom' screen.
So yes I think there may well be a "..heat reflective treatment/tint (whatever they call it!).."

On the topic of tints, i imagine there is a choice on colours for the top tint :?: , personally i think a gray tint would be a good universal colour, as was looking at oem cars and some have blue/green, but obviously those colours may look a little odd with say a red or yellow car.

just as a referance my current screen is top tinted a reddy/orange colour.

Perhaps surprisingly, not much choice actually and as I said above a 'custom' colour is out of the question (well at this price anyway!)

There're actually very few tints available, BMW have the blueish colour that is in some way copyrighted so a non starter anyway.
I think it'll have to be as per Ford which is pretty neutral and a standard colour across their range.

As I've said we'll have a better idea when we get the firm quote from the manufacturer.

Hi,

New member here - I found this via a slightly roundabout route: I've got an Aeon GT3, and there's a mention that the windscreens you're looking at getting made will fit on page 1.

If that's the case, then I'll be after one (or maybe two) for a project which requires them - and I can also ask the other members (although there aren't that many).

Is there someone in the Guildford area who I can meet up with to have a quick comparison?

Obviously I'm hoping the final orders haven't gone through yet :)

Many thanks!
