Post Coupe gelcoat red - ral colour?
Hi,
I've picked up the RAL for the Libra as Alex's has suffered a little damage to the rear clam but for my own Coupe
I need to repair the bonnet in a couple of places and I thought I could order both at the same time.

Cheers

It may well have started out as a RAL colour but don't be disappointed if you don't get a perfect match. Red gel coat fades badly just like any other red finish. Just have a look at some old Duttons sometime.

Ah yes, the fading red. I am familiar with this problem, I had to apply 3 coats of Meguires paste and one coat of Auto Glym (all in one day) to fetch Alex's Libra back to an all gloss and shiny condition. Well it used to be mine!!!

But  my Coupe bonnet has been under cover for a total of 25 years and now that I'm retired (and before I shuffle off the mortal coil) I will have time to spark the whole thing into life once again. So it must be somewhere close to the original colour.

Btw has anyone used LED bulbs, do they work, do they last?

By now it will be somewhere between RAL 3014 and Ral 3015

LED bulbs work and last, but buy proper ones not off ebay.

Expect to pay around £250 for a pair of LED headlights !
The replacement ones for tail/brake/indicator etc, are an easy swap.

Ok Ken,
Can I ask for RAL 3014 1/2
RAL 3014 looks closer to mine, but is that the original colour, if so I'll shoot an order off.

OW! the price of headlamp leds is a bit high - I did say I had retired. Can you suggest a good supplier - or one that is reasonably cheap but supplies good quality?

Cheap LED bulbs look and operate OK but they just don't throw any significant beam of light.

I had an LED brake light on my Moto Guzzi and it just didn't do the job so I never felt safe. I changed it back to a filament bulb.

As regards headlights I fitted an HID conversion but I'm aware that it's of dubious legality on a car.

My own finding. Got the guys in the spray booths to run a fancy 3M machine over the car. A spectrometry thingymajig.
