Post Rear lights problem
Both rear light clusters not lighting up. Number plate bulbs are working but no other lights. Front lights and indicators are all good. Anyone had this problem? Earthing or fuse box issue? Any help appreciated. Thanks

My money would be on dodgy connection between car and clamshell, I ended up replacing all the wiring on mine.

I've check all the bulbs - seem ok. Car's been sitting under a tree for 2 years so maybe wiring has just corroded.

Check earths for the rear lights first as this is easy, if all OK move onto the feeds.

Without knowing how your car is wired, but as a guess normally the number plate light and side lights are on the same fuse and you say the number plate light is working then I would start looking at the rear lights them selves.

Time for the multimeter

Let us know how you get on.

I've had a similar problem with my Spyder. Took her for the MOT test yesterday and no brake lights! They were working last weekend. Everything else was working fine but despite the tester letting me have a go at sorting it and lending me a multimeter and some tools I couldn't get them working. There was 12v at the switch by the pedal and the switch was switching fine. I traced the wire to the last connector before it disappeared into the loom and off through a conduit under the car (12v present and correct) but where the same colour wire emerged at the other end there was no voltage at all. Seems that the wire must be broken inside the loom somewhere. I've sorted it now by running a new wire from the last connector to the back of the car but I'll now have to get it re-tested and also miss driving it this weekend as the test ran out on Saturday :(

Turned out corrosion on all the bulb holders was the problem. Plus brake light switch needed cleaning up.
