Where are they now? - ATJ474J Cox GTM
Hello.
I am a previous owner and wondered what happened to my Jekyll & Hyde Cox GTM, reg ATJ 474J?
It is (was?) very identifiable.
It was red, had 4-spoke alloys - 10" at the front and 12" at the rear, sitting in rather nicely flared & rounded rear wheel arches.
Front indicators came, I think, from an e-type.
Probably the most identifiable part was the dashboard - Walnut dash with Smiths clocks & the centre Abank of switches from an old Jag/ Daimler, like this -
http://www.driving.co.uk/s3/st-driving- ... al-XJS.jpgI put a Minisport 1380cc short engine into it and it already had a Cooper S head.
Fed through a pair of asthmatic 1ΒΌ" SUs
Sadly, it didn't have a manufacturers plate/ serial#.
When I bought it, someone had put an intake louvre in front of the o/s rear wheel arch which pointed forward and a second louvre pointing backwards on the other side at the rear of the rear n/s wheel arch. The idea being to encourage air to flow over the engine and keep everything nice and cool.
It didn't work. So I plumbed a radiator & fan to the front (Allegro I seem to recall?).
I sold the car in the mid to late 1980's I think.
I'm sure the guy that collected it said it was going abroAad, though I still think my dad answered the AutoTrader ad and paid someone to take it away and get shut of it.
I'll have to see if I have any photos of it.
I know that I do have a copy of one of its very few MOT certificates. Gold dust!
Anyone ever seen it since?
Tim
