Post Sound deadening
After the car passed the MOT last week I took it out for a quick run. I covered 18 miles and when I got home my ears were ringing!

What have you guys done sound deadening wise? My first thought was dynamat or similar but after looking its's expensive.

There's a strange story involving wine gums that keeps the noise out of your ears,

but long term it will cost a fortune.

Ear plugs are much nicer 8)

I bought some sound deadening matting off fleabay for my Land Rover tow barge that was not too costly (a big area in a Defender) that has made it a very civilized place

A coupe can be made quite civilized

Check for anything loose and make sure anything that could buzz is tied down.

Make sure there are no parts making contact, for example the exhaust is catching on something under certain engine loads.

Fit Carpet.

I have added some DODO matt foam sound barrier to mine with a MLV layer on the front bulkhead and front foot wells, made it so its removable too

My rear bulkhead engine side is an aluminium lined acoustic foam, altho this needs refreshing as its getting a bit old now.

I feel I have a good compromise between weight and sound deadening at the moment.

I do have some stick on sound deadening which is more for panel vibration, it depends what sort of noise you are trying to eliminate to what you need to use.

try deadening.co.uk they have some deals on some of their stuff. Be warned it can add up in cost quite quickly.

What material did you put in between engine and the bulkhead? I was thinking of doing this and then an upholstered panel on the inside of the B/H and on the tunnel.

Similar to this
https://www.deadening.co.uk/products/dodo-thermo-van-liner

But I got mine years ago from europa spares and is slightly thicker about 10mm. Its a self adhesive closed cell foam with a thin all skin with a square hatch pattern where the reinforcing thread is.

Its lasted fairly well, its over 10 years old I reckon thinking about it. and the engine has been in and out quite a bit over the years.
