Re: New use for a Libra
I might have to "get my coat" here but I don't understand the point of any of this. So they're using a Libra as a testbed for an electric motor/propeller for an aircraft -- surely anything would have done!
Same with the Westfield electric/autonomous project -- I've kept quiet while Bob and the guys were helping but seriously who wants an autonomously driven sports car?
Rant over! Best wear my hoodie so I can hide in plain-sight.

I understand the idea behind the unit but struggle to see what is gained by bolting it to a car?

Pantera -- I think the whole idea is that they can test the engine at speed but without the risk of falling out of the sky if it fails -- on that basis a go-kart would work
Stuart -- cheeky!

Re: New use for a Libra
Steve - I understand that, but imho they would be better to run it on a rail test bed so that they could measure the thrust more accurately. The aerodynamics around the back of that Libra at speed (That won't be anywhere near air cruising speed) will be way different to on a plane. I don't see what they are trying to achieve besides publicity. If they really do insist on using a car they should swap the rig to an old worthless MGF and give me that Libra.

Re: New use for a Libra
Pantera - I think we're in violent agreement here -- why they're wasting time doing this is beyond me. Not even sure what it'll do to create publicity -- so few people will know that the Libra exists. Give them a "tweet" offering to take the car off their hands -- there is a gaping hole where the powertrain used to be!
Stuart might offer you an A series to put in it!

Re: New use for a Libra
That looks a lot like the Libra Potenza was rigging up with an electric powertrain a few years ago. Their current site does seem to show any evidence of it though. http://ptech.co/I saved a picture at the time.
