Post Exhaust manifold
Stumped here guys. The engine # on my K series engine is missing. I have an exhaust manifold, came on the car, but the rest of the system is missing. I got an MG Rover downpipe but it fouls the underside of the engine. Any other hints on identifying the cc of this engine ?? Do I have to cut and weld any downpipe or should a stock item fit. Dave.

Post Re: Exhaust manifold
hi here is a photo of my k3 exhaust down pipe it is custom made you can just see at the end
Image

there is two types of manifolds one with six bolts and one with four but that dose not matter
so long as the down pipe is the same

my k3 does not have the stranded Saab rear silencer the down pipe goes in the box at one end and tail pipe comes out of the over end

hope this can help

Hello Dave,
From the photo of the engine it looks like a 1.4 MPI from a Metro GTI. Your V5 doc should show the engine size. A standard manifold from an early 1.4 is fabricated item & not cast. It's outlet flange has 4 studs. The down pipes with the 2 into 1 joint and the rest of the st st system were from a company that no longer deals with the K3. The down pipes may be similar to the Metro GTI. I do not own the K3 now. But I hope this helps.

the only real way to find out what engine block you have is to look at the engine number
here is some web pages witch shows you how to find it but its hard to read the engine number when its in the car as the engine is the over way round

http://www.metropower.info/how-to-guide ... ine-number
http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group1/in ... /index.htm
