weird wheel balance solution - the cheap chinese minifins!
another one that you will not read anywhere else. probably
for many years one of my back wheels was out of balance or so it seemed. whatever i did the rear inside wheel seemed to be out of balance enough to be annoying ive had the wheels balanced multiple times and never solved..
i own a bubble balancer - which i bought in desperation some years ago. its a great bit of kit and it gets you within 5 grammes which should be good enough. bit it never solved the problem until yesterday.
I put the chinese minifin with integral spacer on the bubble balancer. no wheel. just the drum. the blimmin thing was about 5 grammes out of balance. for goodness sake!!!! so i noted where the out of balance was and fitted the minifin back on then fitted the wheel back on with its slight out of balance 180 degrees opposite the minifin . then went down the M60 at 65 mph. vibration MUCH reduced. very glads. im gonna check the other side this weekend.
best wishes to all the gtm daily drivers if you see me in the red gtm rossa - hoot a lot.

ok ive carefully checked the balance of both cheap minifins. they are awful dont buy cheap minifins. they are both ten grammes out. thats ten grammes measured at the wheel rim. so thats REALLY bad at the drum. shaking gtm rossa? check the rear brake drum balance

If you know where it is heavier, why not grind a fin off, or drill a hole?
