A mate of mine who had a Coupe did the same to his.. think he used that rope stuff (technical name!), that you glass into panels to strengthen them, to fill in the most part... then used flexible bodyfiller (P40 or similar) to bring to level... with plenty of sanding/smoothing to match it up...

Queue others with better solutions... Turbocox might be one to quiz, think he's a laminator by trade so may know a few tricks-of-the-trade! :)

I like Ken's method, although I would consider skinning the foam with a layer of glass fibre blended into the original body to avoid any cracks showing through later.

My method would be .........

Using some Rohacell foam core.

1..Double side some (rohacell Core) into place on your bonnet,

2..Shape to the profile you want by sanding ,

3.. Remove from your bonnet and evenly remove the rear and lower faces (the 90* right angel faces that site it to the bonnet) just enough that it makes the top surface you have just profiled sit below the final hight you require (check this by keep trial fitting as you go).

4.. Next wrap the rohacell shaped core with 1k (VERY fine weave)weave Carbon or a fine weave glass fiber cloth,

5.. place back into the groove (once you have preped "the groove" it with p120 grit).

6..once this has cured then skim fill to the required finish and paint :D ..

Not to different from the above really

I did this with mine.

The cavity was roughly filled with blocks of rigid polyurethane foam then glassed over and smoothed with a thin skim of filler.
