Handbrake cable lubrication
The handbrake cables on my car are pretty substantial affairs that look as if they'd be more at home supporting a suspension bridge

and have grease nipples half way along their length. The inner cables are a bit stiff and I plan to grease them before they are refitted but I have seen cables being oiled as well using an oil gun that fits on to the grease nipple. So - what is the correct way to do these? I would imagine that grease would be longer lasting but I have been known to be wrong before (many times!

) and any info/opinions would be welcome.
