Right then, onto the next dimension that I need on the car. What distance are the master cylinders from the bulkhead? I've got a measurement from where they were, but there was a front bulkhead modification, that I think pushed them closer to the driver, which is a bad thing for me! I know I could probably work it out, but I thought I'd try and keep the measurement as standard. The best dimension, would probably be from the bulkhead directly underneath the screen to the center line of the cylinders. :D

Strangely I have no dimensions for this but I have a couple of photos that you may be able to scale from.

Hope that helps.

Stick them were you need them lad, just make sure you can get full travel of the pedals etc. my pedal pads are roughly inline with the bottom edge of the floor where the bulkhead meets.

I just assumed that they were drilled already!

I'll go and have a play tonight. Are mini pedals the best to use, or are there alternatives that are better to go with? I've fitted the panel in my bulkhead, so I can start mounting it all tonight.

I'm glad I've amused you Neil. :D

The steering column runs between the brake and clutch pedals so that means you have very little leeway in actual fact.

So far as I remember from when my Coupe was roadworthy, it had modified/shortened Mini clutch and brake pedals... modified in that they had been cut roughly half way along the thicker/wider part of the pedal arm, each half then overlapped to the required length and then seam welded... Made then slightly "heavier" in use due to reduced leverage etc., but put them at a more useable height from the floor.
I'm sure there's something in either the build manual or the GTMOC technical manual of a lot of years ago... I'll see if I can find it over the weekend if it'd help..

Yes that's right. Off the top of my head I reckon they were shortened by about 2".

I also found that I had to shorten the pedal box for some reason.

I'm going to the garage tomorrow so if you still need measurements I can get them for you, the triangular bit that sticks out from the pedal box can be cut off if its in the way, we use to do this all the time when racing to reduce weight, once the box is attached to the front bulkhead and top (master cylinders) the third attachment is not necessary. I have just converted mine all to remote cylinders to reduce the pedal pressure especialy on the clutch but I also have it setup to take twin cylinders for the brakes so a seperate front a rear cylinder. If anyone needs a new brake/clutch master cylinder I have 2 that have been used to set my car up but have not been used on the road.

I'm planning to use Fiat X1-9 cylinders using the original support bracket and since they'll be under the scuttle it'll leave more room for a better wiper, but I want to use a lighter column than Dolomite. So does anyone know if Rover 100/Metro spline end fits on the mini steering rack - or can it be legally & sucessfully welded. The steering wheel & stalks look ok and if I can find a mounting method I might get 2 speeds and an intermittant wipe too!

Tim Rowe is using a single wiper off a Citroen AX i think (front one) which should have all the mod cons. I'm sure he'll enlighten you further

I'm changing clutch and brake master cylinders to Fiat X1-9 & I'm trying to find some more of that
1/4" black plastic pipe for clutch that runs down the tunnel (well it does in mine).
Anyone know of a supply plus straight and 90deg bends?
Could change to copper but I've just put the gearchange back :(
