Post Carb...
Ok,

so i went to pick y GTM to bring it to my new house, and i jumps in...nothing, jump starts the car, away i go...Pulled out where my lock up is and the mrs is flashing, peeping and god knows what else at me..

i get out and she tells me something is leaking from my engine back...i had a look it was petrol...I killed the engine.

I popped the boot and had a look, looked like it was my carb (Again) I Phoned the RAC n the guy had a look and told me there was a hole on the base of my carb...

Now i remember this happened to me in October/November time, and a mate fixed it while fixing the clutch, but

what could be making it burst the carb?? Is it the carb or is it rubbing on something??

I've been offered a swap for a Mk1 Mr2...am tempted cause this is doing my head in

what carb is it hif or hs Su, as the jets are different if it actually has rubbed a hole in teh base of the carb or jet then replacment is needed,

If its a hiff, my money is on a blocked check valve in the float chamber its overfilling then coming out he over flow,

if its a hs
the crimped pipe going into the jet is fractured, happend on my brothers mini a few months back, but the car cut out due to the fuel dumping all over the back of the engine and not getting to the jet. i managed to diagnose the problem over the phone told my brother to call recovery and tell them it cannot be fixed saefly onthe side of the road and demand a recovery home, when the recovery guy came still insited on trying to fix it then ruined the jet further causing more work

either these could be your problems or its a cracked bowl/split fuel hose poor seal on the float chamber lid

This is common on Minis when your dogbone engine steady rubbers go bad. I'm not sure of the setup on the Rossa but it sounds like the carb is hitting something and it's smashed the bottom plate in.

If you need a spare, pm me your addy and i'll chuck one in the post to you.

But check your engine mounts too.
