But my car wont be running by then...

On the way to going to fix my sisters Corsa I lost all gears, linkage works fine so can only presume its sumat in the gearbox or clutch related. Ahwell, crossing my fingers none of our other cars go down!

Trap.

The gearbox was brand shiny rebuilt so it shouldn't be that! I would suspect the roll pin connecting the linkage to the gearchange shaft.

Maybe a dumb question but where abouts is the roll pin located? You can physicaly shove the shaft that goes into the gearbox into what should be the gears and still nothing. Car is in the garage now where its having the windscreen wired in and I go back of to uni on Saturday so could be a while now till I get back and can investigate fully.

The roll pin(s) are in the sleeve which connects the gear linkage to the gearbox change shaft.

I've shown them in red on the picture.

To change gear the shaft moves in and out and also rotates. It should click into place as each gear is selected.

These photos might help.

There are two joints to look at. One is at the rear, where it joins to the gearbox and the other is half way along one of the rods, where it changes from the standard mini rod, to the gtm part. Shown on the complete set up where it goes from black to gold.

If either of these have become undone, then it would cause the loss of gears.

Hope that points you in the right direction.

Post Re: Heated Windscreens
Hello all,

Sorry to butt in here, but I've been watching this thread with interest. I have a GTM Midas as well as three other Mini based Midas's. I have also organized a group buy of heated front screens (and have stolen your idea), within the Midas community. We have 26 confirmed orders up to now and are about to place an order with Ricky, which I believe was your supplier. The only question that I would like to ask before I commit everyone's money is, are you happy with your purchase , do the work as expected?

As an aside I made enquiries about that part finished coupe kit that is on Petrol-heads at the moment, but he never replied, but I wondered if you could get a coupe SVA'd or IVA'd these days.

Regards Alan

Post Re: Heated Windscreens
Verdict on mine, tried it out a couple of weeks back. Loving it! Main problem I had was condensation once id got in the car an it clears that reletively quickly, no idea what it would be like with heavy condensation due to a wet interia or the likes as im lucky enough to have a watertight'ish car.

The heating elements dont go right to the edge of the bottom of the screen due to the curvature so on a cold wet day you do still have a nicely fogged up triangle at the extrematies of the screen. Doesnt obscure vision to much tho (much less than a fully fogged up screen for sure) but on a screen with less of a curve/tapper like the midas this will be less of a problem as the elements will I guess reach all the way accross.

Mine was fitted with a Mini heated rear screen switch on the center console, looks nice an neat. Top tint looks good aswell. Shame I wont get to drive the thing so much till the summer when I wont need it so much.

Trap.

Dino,
I'm looking for a one-off windscreen/set of glass for a completely separate project -- any chance your supplier might be interested? We have CAD data if necessary.

Quite possibly, I don't know if they can work from drawings though! they seem to like a pattern.
I've PM'ed you his details.

Hello all,

I'd just like to say, thank you very much for the various bits of information on this thread, particular thanks to Dion, who I have spoken to at length, on the phone and Trap for your positive comments on the usage of the screen. I will now convey all of this information to the Midas forum. But if there are any more screens coming into use let me know your thoughts.

As an aside again we have a little group of Midas's in N.E. England and we have various runs out in the year. If anybody with a GTM or Mini Marcos would like to join us, you are more than welcome! Remember we are only Mini's in fancy dress! Apart from West who seems to be driving something akin to Miss Whiplash.

Anybody interested in Classic Le Mans next year?

Regards Alan
