Post A Series diff side cover bush fitting
I need to fit new bushes to my diff output shaft covers and am not sure of exactly how they fit. There are two slots in the cover and one hole in the bush and the manual says to make sure that the oil hole in the bush is correctly aligned and that's the bit I'm not sure about. At the moment the old bushes have been fitted with the hole mid way between the slots and I can't see the point - it seems to me that the hole should be over one of the slots so that it lets some oil in but if you look at the pic on the link below to the Mini Spares site it also shows the hole apparently doing nowt :? :? . Can anybody clarify this please?

Edited to say that in the pic the oilways are drilled holes whereas mine are open slots

AFAIK Once the bushes are replaced, they have to be reamed to size?
Are your output covers the standard 'pot joint' or the 'S' type? (They are different bores).
Complete new standard output covers are only about £34 each from Minispeed.

They're pot joint type and I'll get them reamed when I get the inner bushes in the crown wheel and diff cage done. I just want to make sure that I put the bushes in the right way first...
